  • Marked efforts have been made by Member States to improve water quality or reduce pressure on hydromorphology. Some of the measures have immediate effect; others will result in improvement in the longer run. Results are usually visible at the level of individual quality elements or pollutants but often do not translate into an overall improved status.

    • regarding 'others will result in improvement in the longer run': Although that is the case for some measures, it should be emphasised as well that the reason for minor improvement is the lack of adequate measures and effective tacking of pressures. That should be explained in the summary. This should give the correct picture of water management in Europe and lack of ambition is an important part of that picture.
    • on 'Results are usually visible at the level of individual quality elements or pollutants but often do not translate into an overall improved status': at the same time would be useful to emphasise the importance of 'one-out-all-out'.
