In Georgia, around 1 980 million m³ of water was used by different economic sectors in 2016. Around a quarter of this water was lost during transport. Over the last decade, the country’s water conveyance system has been partially improved and renewed. However, no significant progress has been made in the reduction of water losses since 2004. The combination of high water loss and increasing demands for water from agriculture and households will expose more acute water efficiency issues in Georgia in years to come.
