Low nitrate concentrations were also found in lakes and reservoirs, although concentrations were slightly higher than in rivers. Lake Shabran had nitrate concentrations above 0.8 mg NO₃-N/l, and only Ceyranbatan reservoir was below 0.2 mg NO₃-N/l. For phosphate, the difference between the sites was bigger, and three sites had current concentration above 0.1 mg P/l, which can be sufficient to cause eutrophication.
