The current concentrations of nitrate and phosphate in Lake Paliastomi are low. According to available data for 2016-2017, the concentrations were generally low, and far below the national threshold (50 mg NO₃/l, in line with the EU Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC). All but one monitoring site had an average concentration below 10 mg NO₃/l.
