Increasing water demand of socio-economic activities under a changing climate forces Member States to explore additional measures for water supply and water demand. Innovative approaches to supply water using non-conventional resources (e.g. desalination, water reuse, rainwater harvesting) are already implemented in many Member States.

the quality aspects of using reused water e.g. for irrigation should be discussed. After having implemented different evaporation and water saving measures for agricultural irrigation, water reuse should be the last solution for avoiding over abstraction for irrigation.

Overall, we agree with this. However, the issue of water quantity and quality in agricultural context is very complex and complicated. Nevertheless, the new version of the report (after the Eionet consultation) is extensively adressing to the interactions between water and agriculture which includes solutions with a focus on the impelementation measures particularly on the demand side.
