They are most often reported from Central European lakes at the height of the summer season. Cyanobacteria blooms often have significant negative effects on aquatic life. Case studies show that management approaches should be well-studied and planned in advance, as some approaches can in turn cause further harm to ecological conditions of the aquatic environment.
