There are 26 national RBDs (plus 18 being part of international RBDs) greater than 40 000 km², with six of them being larger than 100 000 km² (Table 2.4). Some of the large districts consist mainly of one large river (e.g. the Loire, Rhône, and Ebro river basin), while other districts are composed of several river system such as the Swedish Bothnian Bay and Bothnian Sea RBDs or the Scottish RBD.
