The indicator shows the percentage of monitoring sites with threshold exceedances in surface waters and groundwater in Europe.

Pesticides in rivers, lakes and groundwater (WAT 009)

The indicator is based on data reported into SoE WISE water quality, for the years 2013 to 2019. Background information on the approach to the information is available in the ETC -ICM report https://www.eionet.europa.eu/etcs/etc-icm/products/etc-icm-report-1-2020-pesticides-in-european-rivers-lakes-and-groundwaters-data-assessment

We invite your comments and suggestions to this indicator. The format is that of an EEA indicator assessment, but we have set this consultation through the talkback tool, as this enables us to manage comments in a structured way. Note that the indicator has not yet been through editing nor final graphical layout, so we do not need comments on these aspects at this time.

Section 1 is the indicator assessment. Section 2 is the supporting information.

Section 3 allows you to make more general comments. We have also some specific questions for reviewers, concerning the

approach to normalising the data

non-relevant metabolites for groundwater;

the use of Regulatory Acceptable Concentrations for threshold exceedances in surface waters as an alternative to environmental quality standards (EQS) in surface waters;

further sources for EQS values;

and we encourage you to use these sections for detailed comments on these points.
