PL also mentioned that they want to report the new RBDs. PL asked if it would it be possible to have a small update to remove a small RBD with no water bodies or to change the name of an RBD without changing any spatial data. Fernanda Néry (EEA) replied that there is an agreement that there will be no resubmissions for WFD 2016 as the data flow is frozen.

The problems mentioned have been recognised and a parallel data flow where that type of submission can be done is being prepared along with other improvements to the internal systems. The underlying problem is that updates take a long time and require too much work as WFD is the basis for other data flows. Resources are limited and WFD updates will require update to other internal systems without additional reporting being received. The next reporting cycle will be WFD 2022 and with that Member States will be able to report as frequently as needed.
