Figure 1b. Groundwater level changes in European countries over the period 2000-2019

Note: Numbers in brackets indicate the number of monitoring stations available for trend analysis. Decreasing groundwater level trends (orange) range between - 0.01 metres and more than - 2 metres per year; Increasing groundwater levels trends (blue) range between +0.01 metres and more than +2 metres per year.

see before: indicate the maximum of increase or decrease instead of “…more than 2 meters…
It would be good to add another bar segment (category) which indicates the number of stations which did not qualify for the trend assessment so that is possible to relate the trend results to the overall number of reported stations and not only to those where trend assessment was possible.
E.g. for Greece you might have ended up in 1 yellow bar in case of a downward trend at the one and only site. This would give a very strange overall picture which compares 1214 sites in FR with 1 site in GR.

      Thank you for your comment.

The indicator classes are improved and specified; please refer to the previous responses.

Adding a class to the  bar charts with the number of stations that did not qualify would significalty decrease the comprehensibility of figure, because for the majority of the monitoring stations no groundwater level trend assessment was possible (76%).

We agree that one monitoring station is not sufficient to represent th egroundwater level trend of a country. Therefore, Greece was removed from the groundwater level trend indicator assessment. This is described in more detail in the “supporting information” (methodology section).

    POLAND

It should be recalculated with using the same units. And conclusions should be drawn for a common period.
