      Thank you for your comment. It is possible that the groundwater change in this location is non-linear. However, when developing a groundwater trend indicator that describes long term changes at a large variety of monitoring stations, normally a linear trends are determined. Any subsequent in-dept analysis of the groundwater level trends at specific monitoring stations might require a different approach. More information about the devlopment of the methodology, including the consulted reference literature is added to the “supporting information” (methodlogy).
